We are Chris and Jana Disler, missionaries with Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission serving in the northeast state of Ceará in the country of Brazil. We have three children, Alicia, David and Karissa. Our main responsibilities include: leading Bible studies, youth group,visitation, preparing and leading weekly clubs for children and church services. Our goal in Brazil is to share the hope of Jesus Christ for Salvation, teach the word of God (the Bible) and train the Brazilians to assume the responsibilities in the local church so that we can then proceed to another needy area and begin sharing Christ there as well. Our first two years in Brazil were spent learning the language (Portuguese) and helping in a local church that was struggling due to unresolved sin . We were able to preach, teach a few classes and begin a visitation program. We praise the Lord for how He has begun to heal the many hurts in that church. Our third year in Brazil we moved, two and a half hours from the comforts of the big city of Fortaleza, to Morada Nova. Here we began a Children's outreach effort where at times we had as many as one hundred kids and adults in our garage! Our weekly kids Club consistently reaches 10-20 kids each week with Bible lessons and songs. We have also begun weekly church services as well. We returned to Brazil August 15, 2007, after a one year furlough, to spend another term (three years) working in the city of Morada Nova. Our desire and goal is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the end result being a group of dedicated and trained believers leading their own church in this city of nearly 50,000 people. During the past year (2008) in Brazil we have seen some very exciting things develop. We praise the Lord for the vast number of kids, teens and adults who have studied the Bible with us. It was exciting to participate in our first Baptisms this year. I (Chris) am in charge of the youth group and also share in preaching/teaching and music leading responsibilities. Jana has been involved in developing and leading a woman's Bible study which meets monthly.
In 2009 we have held several evangelistic outreaches. We have held evangelistic preaching services, shown films, and have focused on one on one Bible studies. We have not seen vast numbers of people trust in Christ, but little by little God is calling His own to Himself. We praise the Lord for the growth of our believers this year and for the three or four who have trusted in Christ.
